For those interested in "hands ? on" Sand Casting of brass and/or aluminum:

This is a follow-up to our demonstration this Sat. 9th with to Master Gun Smith George Suiter and Mr. Sullivan of Colonial Williamsburg who will be demonstrating sand casting gun parts. Thanks to T.W. Hudson, a teacher at Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) and an ODBSA member with the College permission is offering to all ODBSA members the opportunity to have hands-on Sand Casting experience of brass and/or aluminum.

Location: at CVCC (Central Virginia Community College) Lynchburg, VA Date: Sat. Feb. 16th Time: 9:00 am to 10:00 am -- film presentation 10:00 am to 12:00 noon --Hands-on 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm --Hands -on

Note: A. Only six can participate at a time, for a total of twelve members to participate. There is open space for other members to observe.

B. If you have brass or aluminum please bring it with you for there is limited supply of material at the college.

C. You must let me know this Sat if you are interested in participating or attending because of limited space.

D. No Iron-in-the-Hat raffle

E. This is not a regualar meeting/demo but just an opportunity

Southbound on US Route 29 Take the US 29S/Danville exit and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Stay in the right lane and turn right onto Harvard Street at the stoplight.

Eastbound on US Route 460

Take the 29N/Lynchburg exit and get into the left lane at the end of the off ramp. Continue on until you pass Wal-Mart on the left-hand side of the highway, then turn left at the next stoplight. You will then be on Harvard Street.

West bound on US Route 460

Take the 29N/Lynchburg exit. Get in the left lane and turn left at the third stoplight. You will then be on Harvard Street.

Northbound on US Route 29

After you pass the Lynchburg Airport you will pass under an overpass. This overpass is the city limits of Lynchburg. Get into the left lane and continue on until you pass Wal-Mart on the left-hand side of the highway, then turn left at the next stop light. You will then be on Harvard Street. After you are on Harvard Street

CVCC is near the top of the hill on the right-hand side of Harvard Street and should be visible soon after you make the turn. Take the second entrance on the right, which is the one nearest the Central Virginia Community College sign. Follow this roadway in front of the buildings and you should see signs for visitors' parking. Located in the lower level of Campbell Hall. If you enter the Community College via the main entrance of Harvard Street and follow that road and bear to the left where it forks to go down to the student parking lot you will come to the lower level of Campbell. You will see a roll up garage door and a jib crane column by the building as well as two-chain link welding cylinder cages on your left. Come through the double doors that are located between the cylinder containment's.
